At a glance

Your customer journey can last longer than seven days

Someone discovers you today, compares options next week, and buys a month later. When their visitor ID expires between visits, the journey can look like several different people. That makes it harder to see which marketing helped win the sale.

Safari can limit JavaScript-based visitor recognition to seven days without interaction, including in a standard GA4 setup.

Cromojo combines a server-set first-party cookie with your own tracking domain, setting a rolling lifetime of up to 400 days. Recognise eligible return visits on the same browser and connect them to conversions and revenue.
Capabilities

Connect more of the path to purchase

Recognise returning visitors
Connect visits across sessions and days on the same browser, so someone who comes back to buy does not always look like a new visitor.
Connect visits to revenue
Connect eligible returning visits to purchases through Cromojo's Shopify and Stripe integrations, so your reports help explain revenue across sessions.
Track on your own domain
Load the analytics script and send events through an address such as stats.yourdomain.com, keeping collection on your domain.
Up to 400 days of recognition
Give longer buying journeys more time to connect. Cromojo sets a rolling cookie lifetime of up to 400 days; browser restrictions and visitor choices can shorten it.
Choose your consent setup
Use opt-in tracking with your cookie banner or opt-out tracking where appropriate. Keep cookie-free analytics for visitors who decline.
Follow a guided setup
Add your tracking subdomain, follow the DNS instructions, and install the updated snippet once the address is active.
Why Cromojo

Why choose Cromojo for first-party attribution?

See beyond the last visit
Keep eligible visits connected when customers take weeks or months to decide. See more of the journey behind a purchase, subject to browser limits and consent.
Understand repeat visits
Recognise someone who comes back to compare, enquire or buy on the same browser. Reduce fragmented journeys caused by treating every eligible return as a new visitor.
Collect on your own domain
Load the script and send events through stats.yourdomain.com. Cromojo includes guided custom-domain setup, which can reduce blocks aimed at shared analytics domains.
Connect tracking to revenue
Bring returning visitor recognition and supported Shopify or Stripe purchases into Cromojo's attribution reports. Understand which visits contributed to sales.
Respect visitor choices
Consent changes and browser privacy signals take priority over returning visitor recognition, with cookie-free fallback when appropriate.
Skip running a tagging server
Cromojo manages the custom tracking endpoint and HTTPS certificate. Add the DNS record and updated snippet, without operating a separate proxy or tagging server.

Frequently asked questions

Answers on cookie lifetime, GA4 and revenue attribution. For Google's explanation of browser limits, see its GA4 cookie guidance.
How is this different from a basic GA4 setup?

GA4's standard JavaScript tags already use first-party cookies. Cromojo brings a custom tracking domain, a server-set visitor cookie and supported Shopify/Stripe revenue connections into one guided setup. You can connect eligible repeat visits to purchases without operating a separate tagging server.

How does it improve revenue attribution?

When a visitor returns on the same browser, Cromojo can recognise them and use that identity with supported checkout data to connect visits across sessions. This helps explain purchases that happen after the first visit. Attribution depends on visitor recognition, consent and your checkout integration.

Which plans include it?

First-party tracking is included with Analytics Pro and above. You can configure returning visitor tracking and your custom tracking domain in Site settings > Analytics.

Does it work with Shopify and Stripe?

Yes. With the relevant revenue integration connected, the Cromojo snippet passes visitor information through Shopify carts and supported Stripe Payment Links and Pricing Tables. If you create Stripe Checkout sessions on your server, pass Cromojo's checkout reference when creating the session.

How do I set up my tracking domain?

Enable returning visitor tracking, then add a subdomain such as stats.yourdomain.com in Site settings > Analytics. Add the DNS record shown, wait for the address and HTTPS certificate to become active, then replace your website's snippet with the updated one. Your existing snippet does not switch automatically.

Do I need a cookie banner?

Returning visitor tracking uses cookies and browser storage. In opt-in mode, visitors must accept through your connected cookie banner before recognition starts. Opt-out mode recognises visitors unless they opt out. Choose the mode that fits your consent requirements; a custom domain does not remove them.

Does it bypass every ad blocker or track across devices?

No. A custom domain can avoid blocks aimed at shared analytics domains, but blockers may still recognise the script or request path. Recognition applies to the same browser and depends on its stored visitor ID. It does not automatically connect different browsers or devices.

400 days vs seven days: what does that really mean?

Cromojo sets a rolling cookie lifetime of up to 400 days. The seven-day comparison refers to Safari's limits on JavaScript-created cookies and storage after a period without interaction, which can affect standard GA4 tracking. It is not a universal limit for GA4 or third-party analytics. Safari can also cap server-set cookies on custom domains at seven days. Actual recognition depends on the browser, domain setup, consent and stored data; 400 days is a maximum, not a guarantee.
